I Made This: Custom Shelving

It’s usually around 10 o’clock at night when most of my decorating urges hit me. It doesn’t matter how tired I am, I can’t rest until I get something done with it, even if I hate it. So one night I was completely sick of staring at such a huge blank wall. I had some shelf brackets and old 2x4s I picked up from the ReStore once upon a time. I used them as a bookshelf above the sliding glass door in my apartment, but it looked totally different. So I stacked these three to give some impact to the boring wall. I’m really happy with the way it came out.

Here is what the brackets look like

And the beautiful, aged wood that I didn’t have to do a single thing to.

Getting these posts up the past few months, really shows me what I need to work on. I’m not a set stylist, but there sure are quite a few thing to learn when it comes to final presentations and photography. It would help in part to have daylight to photograph in, but it’s kind of hard when I work full time and its dark out by the time I get home. Oh well! Its life. I’m definitely taking this time to learn and grow in my weaknesses. Exciting time, ya’ll.

  1. Hi Gloria! Thanks so much for leaving me a link to your post – your shelves are gorgeous! I am so glad you commented – tha’s what those posts are all anbout, seeing how each of us interprets something, and what works for who, and why. I think of the blog as a way of learning more about others peoples styles, and it’s fascinating. I love that you bought the shelves form the reStore, I try to use their stuff when I can, as well – x
