S’pose I should talk about something. I’ve been so uninspired since I lost my ring. I have been drowning my sorrows in milk and iced oatmeal cookie. When I’m not doing that, I’m in the backyard metal detecting, because I’m almost certain the dogs had something to do with it. Wow, life sucks sometimes.
Back to the free or cheap art because I know you’re on the edge of your seat. I got a bunch from the library in Elk Rapids, MI when I was there in February. They have a huge section of books you can keep for a “suggested” donation. I found a bunch of coffee table books on artists and print makers. So I grabbed, oh, all of them. They are awesome, plus the covers are so pretty the grays and blues. A lot of them have such pretty images that can be used as artwork, plus they are decent large sizes. Score.
This one had my favorite pictures. On the opposite page it had poems, and some of them are so pretty. I looked this book up on amazon AFTER I tore it up, and this edition sold for $80. Oops. Oh well, if I was buying the prints individually, it would have cost me just as much and there is nothing I can do about it now.
This post may seem a little anti-climatic because I didn’t frame anything, but girl’s gotta budget. For now, the six of them are hanging on the wall via thumbtack. I didn’t even put the pin through the paper, it would feel like a crime.
I really hope none of our future guest have ever been shipwrecked because this could drum up some serious fits of PTSD. In all seriousness, I’m obsess with these images, I think they are gorgeous.
If you’re in need of some artwork and like this idea, I’m sure you could find some books at your local library, thrift store or garage sale.
Yay! It will be so pretty with frames and maybe two more pictures on the end. A neighbor offered to help build frames which I make take him up on it since I really don’t feel like spending $100 on picture frames. I guess you’ll have to stick around to find out!
I need to find a sale like that! I love those giant coffee table books — and I’d say your art is worth well more than the $80 the book is worth. What a great find.
PS. I’m bummed about your ring. :(
That stinks about your ring. :(
I yanked a bunch of books from my school library’s “discard” pile at the end of the year. I haven’t gone through them yet, but hopefully I find some pictures as pretty as yours! :)
I am completely obsessed with coffee table books! That was a serious score, by the way. They would look great in some Ikea frames, but I hear ya on not wanting to shell out 100 beans for them. That’s one thing I’ve learned from buying a house & slowly decorating it…EVERYTHING is sooo expensive.
Love you cheap art tips!! Time to hit up the thrift shops again.
Ps-so glad your ruby red nails came out nice and sparkly! Would love to see a pic!
xoxo
